Failures are a learning experience: Mehreen
Actress Mehreen talks about her film choices, taking failures in her stride and upcoming spy thriller Chanakya.
Actress Mehreen, who will soon be seen opposite Gopichand in upcoming spy thriller Chanakya, confesses that she is very excited about her role. “My role is fun and my chemistry with Gopichand is very entertaining. There are also some funny scenes with Ali, Sunil and Raghu Babu, whom I worked with for the first time,” says Mehreen, revealing that she plays a character named Aishwarya who heads a courier company.
The actress feels that spy thrillers aren’t easy to direct. “You have to keep the audience engaged and the scenes unpredictable. The film needs to be fast and racy, and director Thiru sir did everything required. He had so much clarity and never shot any unwanted scenes,” she says.
Interestingly, Mehreen had a phenomenal debut followed by a period of struggle. However, taking it in her stride, she says, “Highs and lows are a part of life. I give my best to every film but the result is not in my hands. It is the audience that decides a film’s fate. When a film does not do well, I take it as a learning experience and never dwell on it for long.”
The actress says that the script and her role determine the kind of films she does. “I listen to my heart when I sign a film. I signed my debut film without any experience but it remains one of the best films that I have ever done,” she states.
As for her co-star Gopichand, Mehreen reveals, “He is a very calm person who simply does his job and does not interfere in any way.”
The actress has also signed a film in her mother-tongue, Punjabi. “I always wanted to do a film in Punjabi and it was a good script,” she says.
Also in the pipeline are Entha Manchivadavura opposite Kalyan Ram and Tamil film Pattas opposite Dhanush. “I was supposed to make my debut in Kannada too, but I want to complete these projects first,” says the actress, who shares that she is open to doing a web series too. “In fact, my brother just finished a film for Netflix opposite Kiara Advani, produced by Dharma Productions,” she reveals.
