Vijay Sethupathi smart enough to skip \'Pedha Kapu'?
Vijay Sethupathi got many offers from Telugu filmmakers but he declined them.
Kollywood star Vijay Sethupathi was reportedly planning to do a key role in the recently released “Pedha Kapu’ and also listened to the story and wanted to join the shooting, a few months ago. “Actually, Vijay Sethupathi initially wanted to do the film but didn’t turn up for the shooting, and kept the unit waiting for several days.
Probably, Vijay Sethupathi developed second thoughts about his poorly-etched role and backed out of the project, realizing that it would dent his growing stature, as he was awaiting the release of ‘Jawan’ and other big movies,” says a source from Chennai, who claims that the role was later done by director Srikanth Addala himself but it didn’t turn out to be exciting enough even for the viewers. “Sethupathi was lucky to skip this role since the film bombed at the box office,” he adds.
No doubt, Vijay Sethupathi made his debut in Tollywood by playing the role of the ruthless and caste-obsessed father of Kriti Shetty in the blockbuster film ‘Uppena’ and showcased his acting brilliance. He also appeared in a brief role in his other Telugu film ‘Sye Raa Narimhareddy’ and he claimed that he was a great admirer of Megastar Chiranjeevi.
‘Vijay Sethupathi got many offers from Telugu filmmakers but he declined them because he was averse to doing routine negative roles. He rose to become one of the most popular heroes in the Tamil film industry riding on his versatile talent. However, he made an exception for superstars like Kamal Haasan and Vijay and played a baddie in their films like ‘Vikram’ and “Master’,” he points out.
