NTR fans went berserk at the venue, forcing cops to advise the makers to call off the event. Social media is filled with videos and photos of disappointed fans.
Jr. NTR was banking on this pre-release blitz to connect with his legion fans after promoting the film in Mumbai, Chennai and other cities.
Nandamuri fans were probably overexcited since a Jr NTR film is hitting the screens after over 5 years. According to an organiser of the pre-release event, the crowds that turned up at the Novotel Hotel in Hyderabad were five to six times more than expected, and there was chaos. “Initially, we wanted to organise the event in an open ground, to accommodate as many people as possible, But due to weather conditions, we had to move it indoors,” he says and adds, “The hotel hall could seat 5500 but over 30000 fans came to have a glimpse of their favourite hero; and things got out of hand.”
People started coming in from 4.30 p.m. onwards, taking vans and buses from remote areas, and the hotel premises were filling up faster than expected. “Police bandobast was increased from four to 40, but things couldn’t be brought under control,” the organizer reported. At one stage, 6000 people were seated inside and another 2000 were standing, so the event was called off to avoid untoward incidents,” he shared. He thanked the police department for their support in critical moments.
