Leading Tamil star Kamal Haasan expressed his gratitude to Telugu audiences for supporting him for the last five decades and now got an opportunity to thank them. “I came to Hyderabad as a technician almost 52 years ago and Telugu fans kept encouraging me and handholding me to this respectable position. I am grateful to three generations of Telugu audience for bestowing love and affection on me, which is rarity for a actor,” he says and adds, “I had blockbusters like ‘Maro Charitra’, ‘Swathi Muthyam’ and ‘Sagara Sangamam’ and directors like K Viswanath and K Balachander breached regional barriers by delivering hits in all languages. I would proudly say that few creative people have bridged the geographical gaps with art. Even Shankar is known for pan-India movies and we wish connect India as one with our next film ‘Bharateeyudu’ 2,’ he informs

He also thanked Telugu fans for making ‘Bharateeyudu’ a blockbuster in Telugu states in 1996. “We had to face some criticism for over budgeting in 1990s but we had to spent as we were reaching out world over,” he says and adds, “The whole budget of ‘Bharateeyudu’ is spent on just one schedule of a big film these days and it looks inevitable,” he adds. He also thanked director Shankar for keeping his zeal and enthusiasm intact and making it possible for another film against corruption after 28 years. “Shankar’s imagination is outstanding and also rampant corruption in society has made our second part possible,’ he points out.

Kamal Haasan played a farmer-turned-vigilante in ‘Bharateeyudu’ and now returns to punish corrupt officials and politicians at the age of 106. “The film against corruption raises questions for the audience too,’ he concludes.
