Talking to Deccan Chronicle in an exclusive chat, Anna answers our questions on debut in Tollywood, working with Deepika Padukone, life right now and her future aspirations.
How is life after the release of Kalki and how did the offer come to you?
It has been wonderful. Have been hearing nothing but good things about the film. Always felt this was going to be big and I am happy that it is. Talking about how I got the offer, I am someone who doesn't check emails regularly. But that day, when I did, had an email from the production for the film and that is how it happened.
How familiar are you with Telugu cinema? Have you watched any good films from here?
I am not so great with Telugu cinema knowledge. Not many Telugu films are released in Kerala. But yes. I have watched a good number of films and you won't believe me if I tell you...Baahubali is a film that I have watched multiple times. Baahubali is the one film which has travelled the most in Kerala. I and my friends have watched it together so many times.
Can you share some of the best memories from the sets of the film?
Oh yes! Of course. When Nagi sir told me that he watched Kappela and loved the performance. And I am someone who always wanted to work with Shobana ma'am. I adore him so much. Though I did not work with her directly in the film, I am part of one scene with her and that was to my heart's content.
How was working with Deepika Padukone ?
Working with Deepika ma'am was amazing. I was pretty nervous but she was sweet. She even told me that her husband Ranveer Singh watched Kumbalangi Nights and I was shocked. It is unbelievable to have imagined to share the screen with her. I felt numb when I met her but the experience was amazing.
Are you looking forward to continuing to work in Telugu cinema?
Definitely! I wouldn't want to miss anything that will take me closer to the audience in Telugu. Listening to some scripts and will announce to something soon.
