Vemal is on a signing spree
He has signed up for more than six films already this year
Vemal, who was last seen in Jannal Oram, the Tamil remake of Ordinary, is now all set for the release of his next flick, Pulivaal, directed by Marimuthu. He is known for his subtle on-screen performance, and is an actor who does comedy genre films with perfect balance. Vemal had more than five releases in the year 2013 and has signed up for more than six films already this year.
When asked about how things have shaped up for him, he says, “I have been busy shooting all these days. I have an eventful year lined up ahead. I am happy about my progress and I wish to do different roles, and showcase my acting skills in my upcoming films. Fortunately, I am blessed with some good scripts.” On Pulivaal, which stars actor Prasanna and Vemal in the lead, he says, “Pulivaal gets its plot from the superhit Malayalam flick, Chaapa Kurishu, and director Marimuthu has changed a few things to suit the Tamil audience in a brilliant way. I am sure the movie will be a hit here too. The songs have really come out well. I am playing the role of a worker in a supermarket, and Thambi Ramaiah plays a prominent role in the flick.” Actor Prasanna also plays a leading role and the chemistry between them has come in for comment. “We have a scene in a film where I confront Prasanna, and that solo fight will definitely leave an impression on the audience. Prasanna, being a senior actor, was an unruffled co-star. He helped me a great deal, and now we are more like best friends. It’s not often that one gets an easy co-star in films, but I did,” he says.
The film is said to be a comedy thriller, and Ananya of Engeyum Eppothum fame pairs opposite him. After Pulivaal, Vemal is waiting for his next flick, Anjala, in which he pairs opposite Nandita, directed by Thangam Saravanan. Other films of his that are lined up for release are, Manja Pye, Netru Indru, Nee Yellam Nalla Varuvada, and Sakarakatti.
