The world of smartphones has seen a host of interesting launches in the past few months, bringing next-gen technical advances to masses.

Smartphones are evolving faster than the consumer's expectation. A few years ago, we had been treated to large curved displays and multi-core chipsets on these mini handheld computers. Today, manufacturers are pushing boundaries in smartphone designs, bringing true-bezel-less designs and advanced biometric verification systems. And, it's not that only the established players have their names registered for bringing a new technology to the masses emerging players from China are raising eyebrows. Most of them have made the future ready for commercial purposes and we look at some of them that lightens up every techie's face.
Huawei P20 Pro: Huawei's crazy venture towards the aim of making the highest-rated smartphone camera resulted in the world's first triple camera phone. A 40MP RGB sensor, 20MP monochrome sensor and an 8MP telephoto sensor make the P20 Pro an ideal phone for shutterbugs. Move over the cameras and you will see a competent flagship Android phone that is practical as well. The Kirin 970 chip runs most of the stuff thrown at it with ease and the 4000mAh battery makes sure you don't need to top it up soon. At Rs 64,999, it comes across as a good alternative to the Apple and Samsung flagships.

Vivo NEX: Unlike the OPPO Find X, the NEX has only its selfie camera sliding up the top the rear cameras stay exposed like conventional phones. However, the NEX is comparatively affordable. The top end model houses an in-display fingerprint sensor whereas the low-end model houses a capacitive counterpart. At 86 per cent screen-to-body ratio, it's 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display is reasonably large. Chipset options include the SD 845 and SD 710, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. A 12MP+5MP setup looks after the rear camera duties whereas an 8MP front shooter looks after selfies. The NEX is coming to India and could start at Rs 47,000 approx.
ASUS ROG Phone: A beast in every sense the ROG Phone brings extreme smartphone technologies to appease those who expect uncompromised gaming performance from their smartphones. An overclocked Snapdragon 845 chip with 8GB of RAM and vapour cooling system indicates that the ROG Phone isn't for those looking for practical telephony solutions. There's a 6-inch 18:9 AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The coolest part is that the ROG Phone houses an RGB illumination no other phone features it. A 4000mAh battery keeps the ROG Phone alive. ASUS is rumoured to bring it to the Indian shores later in the year and we expect a price tag of approximately Rs 70,000.
Sliding Camera: The Find X's star attraction is the sliding camera mechanism. Unlike the Vivo NEX, which houses only a sliding selfie camera, the Find X house both the front as well as rear dual camera setup on the motorised sliding mechanism. As a result, the entire top section of the phone pops up when the camera needs to be used. The module stays opened only when the camera is in use it stays shut rest of the time. OPPO says that the module pops out in less than a second.
