Contemporary art has always provided us with an opportunity to reflect upon modern society and the issues that are relevant to us and the times we live in.

The Jyoti Kalra-curated exhibition, Artistagram 2019 (at Visual Art Gallery, IHC), will provide many such opportunities for you to muse when it runs from July 12 to July 18.

Karma Yogi, a painting by Karunaa Paal Gupta that depicts a human being’s relationship with Karma, will be one of the spectacular pieces displayed. It plays on the simple ideas that nothing in this world is static and every beginning has an end.

Other standout pieces will include Gouri Seth’s Autumn, which is meant to represent a second spring, where every leaf turns into a flower. Satvik Sharma’s artwork is identified by its riot of colours. The artist has a particularly interesting backstory: he was introduced to watercolours at the age of 10, after which he began to paint from his imagination using both hands with even multiple brushes at times. There’s also Pooja Aggarwal, who will exhibit her 3D paintings to bring a nice futuristic twist to the event.

 “In my art, I like to capture the beauty in mundane objects and places. Different mediums allow me to express different ideas.” says Prasanta Khatua, one of the artists who will be exhibiting.
