Are you one of those who jumps at the sight of colourful papers, fancy pens and all things crafty? If the answer was ‘yes’, then you sure know what I mean when I say that the struggle of finding arts and crafts supplies under one roof is a struggle!

Namma ooru is home to a number of creative initiatives, start-ups and artists. As much as the art and craft scene thrives, there is also a need to enable them further. Providing a platform for art lovers in the city, Itsy Bitsy, an arts and crafts store,  is set to host an art and craft event ‘Creativity Carnival’ on December 8 and 9.

Rashmi Closepet, co-founder of  says, “We believe art and creativity are a very important part of growing up. There are games, activities, live art exhibitions and stalls for adults! Oh, and lots of food! A part of our mission is also to support an orphanage and child rescue centre we run in rural Karnataka.”

Pooja Amit, a hardware engineer by profession is an artist at heart. Showcasing her artwork  she elaborates on what her stall will entail. “I’m a self-taught artist and will be showcasing my artworks and the different mediums that I work with; watercolour, acrylic, oil and alcohol inks. My artworks range from a variety of genres like traditional art, abstracts and whimsical. As an addition, I will also be showcasing DIY calligraphy kits that I have designed myself, some handmade planters and home decor items. I draw inspiration from various artists across the world and by travelling avidly.”

Simran Wahan, hailing from Coimbatore, will be in the city with a stall boasting of hand-crafted trays, dream catchers, handmade journals, mixed media wall art and adult colouring books. She says, “I’m excited to present my adult colouring book; a compilation of all my patterns and designs. We have Mandalas, geometric shapes, illustrations inspired by Moroccan and Chettinad tiles, birds and flowers and much more. It’ll help us focus better and balance our breathing & uplift our mood. It’s essential now because we’re overworked and low on patience.”

Naveen IR and his team will be using the platform to discover  what products interest buyers today. With the concept of using cement pots to decorate indoors and outdoors alike, he says, “In this speedy urban lifestyle. we get little time to interact with the nature. We want to help in filling up that space. After a lot of experimentation, we figured that cement is where little exploration has done, especially in the indoor space. We took it as a challenge and came up with these cute little wonders. As an early start up we are keen to know the customer response on our creations.”
