Artist Natasha Raj recently exhibited her work in the city at Focus. An artist who draws inspiration from life has depicted moods and a way to balance these out of which she created love. The Chennai-origin NRI artist, through plans one more art show in February. Apart from her art, She also plays the guitar and table.

She prefers to look at aspects of life in remote villages and travelling to places with historic value, from which she tries to derive inspiration for her art. She likes to observe the harsh realities of the current world that sees a lot of pain, fear and battles, fought not only by governments and nations but battles that are fought by civilians every single day. Their emotions vary from depression anxiety, hate, and rejection.

“My childhood was filled with images of dreams of heaven with angels and clouds, ladders reaching the subterranean also with waterfalls leading to faraway houses, then recreated with dotted lines in a painting. This led to trunks soaked in ink and abstract images of the godly earth. Now it’s time for pink candy with Tuscan embellishments. I started my days surrounded by old buildings & buckets in the porch, then Miranda Hall, Ashok Hall with its therapeutic and pious assembly. Then came smoke of havans in D.A.V. leading to poetry and yoga. Sishya came as a breath of deep friendships, baseball and art, which was chiselled at Otis College of Art & Design, Los Angeles, California. Fashion, painting & photography too,” the artist shares on her journey so far.
