Around town: Live, fictional characters
Preksha Trivedi makes her debut with her book Love & Snow
Preksha Trivedi always wanted to write a book. “I have been an avid reader since I was young and always wanted my shelf to have a book with my name on it,” she says. Preksha calls her debut novel, Love & Snow, a dream come true. “It’s a love story set in an imaginary town, between two people and how their families were connected. The book tracks their journey from their childhood to a point in life where they have grown apart and try to sort out their misunderstandings,” she says.
It took Preksha one-and-a-half years to come up with the book. The 23-year-old MBA student adds that she would want to explore other genres too in future. “I belong to a family of authors, my uncle Manoj Trivedi and my dad Pankaj Trivedi write academic books so it was easier to get a publisher through them,” she says.
And her marketing strategy is unique too. “The unique thing about this is that we have actually cast characters who have accounts on Facebook, so people can interact with them, and they would reply as characters from the book. They will tell you a bit of the story that will give you a deeper understanding. Real people have been trained to be the characters. People usually write a prologue, I have made one,” she says.
