Take the artist home!

Dayanita Singh who is known for creating ‘book-objects’ – works that are books, art objects, exhibitions, and catalogues is offering a very special artwork at At Art Rises for Kerala (ARK), organised by the Kochi Biennale Foundation. The artist will make the artwork in the home of the collector who wins the bid within a period of 12 months from the auction date. The 'Family Box' will be a unique work, with no artist's proof.
The box will be made of a wooden structure, holding five black-and-white images. It will be similar in structure and concept to the micro museums she made inside her mobile museums. The images will be portraits of the family as well as the house. The collector will be able to display and arrange the images within the ‘Family Box’ to their own liking, changing the front image as often as they like.
The artist will then edit a selection of the photographs to be inserted in the 'Family Box'. Within a year of the auction date, the collector will receive a completed work of art, along with a certificate of authenticity. The New Delhi-based artist will also bear the cost of travel and production.
