Kaalinatakam, Bhima at META

Ten plays, competing for the META Awards will be staged from March 4 to 9.

Kaalinatakam, a play that came out after lots of readings books and watching performances and researching by Sajitha Madathil, the lead actress, and directed by noted playwright Chandradasan, will represent Kerala in the 12th edition of the Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards (META). Ten plays in Bengali, Malayalam, Rajasthani, Kannada, with Hindi and English scripts have been nominated for the META Awards and will be staged at the Kamani Auditorium, Little Theatre Group (LTG),  New Delhi from March 4 to 9.

Selection committee included theatre personalities like Arundhati Raja, Deepa Punjani, Deepan Sivaraman, Danish Husain and Debesh Chatterjee. Along with Kaalinatakam, there is also Anitha Santhanam’s Bhima which comes in English and Malayalam.  Bhima is inspired from MT Vasudevan Nair’s Randam Oozham, Ashok Malhotra’s Child Man, and Jeanette Winterson’s Weight.
