It is not usual for a hotel industry professional to listen to his passion for writing and even get his books published! Chennai-based Arun Jayakaran is definitely not the regular hotel industry person we come across — but is someone who is constantly imagining ideas to pen down. And this time, it is a book on Indian sensualities! Here’s how he is managing to juggle his professions.

“I’ve been in the hotel industry for over three decades now and have travelled the Middle East. But writing has been dear to me throughout my life. I used to write  a few pieces once in a while. Now that I’ve quit a full-time job in the hotel business, and have taken on the role as a consultant, it gives me a lot of time to write all that I ever wanted to. So through this book, I wanted to write a bold and realistic fiction of 10 short stories which explore sensuality,” says Arun, about his third title Sensual Attractions, published by Delhi-based Story Mirror.

Arun recalls the bygone days when he believes it was much harder for one to write and get published  — “Considering how easy it is today for a person to put his/her thoughts through a blog and lay it open for the world to read, it was much harder back then to get something published. There were very few opportunities. But I’m glad I am doing all that I wanted to.”

When asked how he thinks the book would be received he says with hope, “I think we are a very broad minded society and I am sure people don’t have an issue reading about sensuality.”
