Nikita, who currently lives in Manhattan and dabbles as a fashion stylist, talks to us about her inspiration, favourite genre and how she fights writer’s blocks.

Does inspiration strike you at odd  hours and places?
When I’m actively thinking about what my next book is going be — a lot of ideas come at odd moments, but only a few  stick. Then, I start building on those ideas, add layers and develop it into a novel.

Which genre draws you the most as a reader and a writer?
I read and write whatever I feel like in the moment. I especially enjoy writing about relationships and exploring different human emotions.

Which is the one fictional character who is close to your heart and why?
Suri from the film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is one of my favourite fictional characters. The character was honest, generous and very real. I think Shah Rukh Khan portrayed the role with all his heart.

Your antidote to writer’s blocks?
According to me, a writer’s block happens only when we overthink things and I make sure not to do that. I try to trust my instincts, go with the flow and see the book through to the end.

A book you like to keep revisiting?
I am a big fan of the Harry Potter series and I ensure that read it once every year. Similarly, I love watching the Star Wars series.
