Bengaluru is unabashedly progressive in thought and mind, especially now that events in the city are shaping up to be literature and culture specific. Performance poetry, writing workshops, plays and larger literary festivals are a few of the avenues that have opened up for literary and art lovers in the city. These events are encouraging hobbies that were closeted to start with. Several youngsters in the city are keener on being a part of a learning process now more than ever and they tell us what makes this fascinating!

Sindhura Peri, an ACCA student, says, “The reason I like attending these events is because I want to broaden my horizons and some of the plays being held in Bengaluru are definitely something everyone should experience once in a lifetime. The crowd is always a mix of theatre enthusiasts, professionally inclined ones and mostly they are all eager to learn and discuss.”

The vibe at such events is altogether a new high for literary enthusiasts like Aayushi Srinivasan, who says, “The feel, plot, setting and fan base at any literary event is why we go again and again. It’s a welcoming atmosphere where ideas of any sort are accepted without any judgement.” Aayushi, who attended Comic Con that happened in the city last year, adds, “Music and parties have definitely always had a more “popular” outlook than cultural events but, the way in which this massive craze has caught up in our country is a standing example of viewing a cultural shift and different ways of expression being encouraged.”

Youngsters see these events as a platform to not only showcase talents that are more subtle in terms of theatrical entertainment but also to connect with people who are keen on learning like them. Opinions and ideas are prioritised as much as fun! Hashim Qazi, a student of CMS Jain University, says, “This city has uplifted the morale and optimism of students which brings them united. Events like these boost a student’s approach and encourages them to grow in future. Many have already found it successful for themselves as they are capable of reaching out to larger mass with a positive response.”
