Vijayawada: Pratibha Satyavannan enchants audience

Vijayawada: An enchanting Bharata Natyam performance by Pratibha Satyavannan, a Bengaluru-based classical dancer enthralled the audience. The programme was held as part of monthly dance programme ‘Natyasravanti’ organised by Cultural Centre of Vijayawada & Amaravati (CCVA) on Tuesday at Madhu Malaxmi Chambers, Mogalrajpuram.
Ms Pratibha Satyavannan started her performance with invocation of Goddess Saraswati, Laxmi and Parvati called Trimata Samarpan set in Ragamalika (Ekatatam), Ms Pratibha’s posture with fluid gestures and expressive eyes danced in harmony with the musical accompaniment, mesmerised the audience.
Then, she performed to an invocation of Lord Nataraja with her performance ‘Natesa Kautukam’ in Hamsadhwani ragam and aditalam followed by Swati Tirunal’s ‘Chaliye Kunjan’ set in Rag Bridavansaranga.
For a few moments, she was the playful Krishna and the next moment, she turned into a Gopika teased by Krishna. Then Prathiba switched over to dances for Kshetrayya’s padam, Indendu Vachchitivira’ in Surati raga and Tripura tala and narrated how naughty Krishna came to the house of a woman. Pratibha also played the role of Gopikas who complained to Yasoda, Krishna’s mother, on the mischievous deeds of Krishna to Othukadu Venkatasubbaiyyar’s Kriti ‘Thaye Yasoda’ in Todi raga and adi tala. She enchanted the audience with her ashinaya for a tillana, composed by Dandayudhapani Pillai.
