Hyderabad: Anu Vaidyanathan, the multi-talented filmmaker, author, standup-comedian, triathlete, and parent, is bringing her hilarious show BC: AD (Before Children, After Diapers) to Hyderabad as part of her Indian tour. The show will take place on 15th July 2023, at 8 PM at Alt Space.

On her connection to Hyderabad, the comedian says: “I won my first running race prize here amongst the greatest runners of our time. I was handed the award by Mrs. Leelamma Alaphonso at the Hyderabad Marathon and fell in love with this city, its great food, and its iconic sportswoman Sania Mirza, whom I met very early in my sporting career and admired for the longest time.”

BC: AD (Before Children, After Diapers) is a standup comedy show that explores how motherhood transforms the meanings of words and the world. This show is a hilarious and honest reflection on the joys and struggles of being a parent, a woman, and a creative person in today's society. Whether you are a mom, a dad, or neither, you will find something to relate to and laugh at in Anu's stories. From her pre-kid adventures to her post-diaper dilemmas, from her marital mishaps to her short but bossy roommates who call her 'mom', Anu takes you on a journey through the life and times of a comedian, filmmaker, and sometimes engineer who loves endurance sports, including parenting.

Anu Vaidyanathan is one of the rare women of Indian origin who has performed a full stand-up comedy hour at the Edinburgh Fringe. She played at the Underbelly, a prestigious venue where Fleabag made her debut. Her show has received rave reviews from audiences across the globe. She has also taken her show to India and off-Broadway in New York.

Moreover, Anu has performed to sold-out crowds in Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris, London, and other cities in Europe. She has shared the stage with famous comedians such as Michelle Wolf, Janine Harouni, Erika Ehler, and Lucy Pohl with TV/stage/film credits in London and/USA.

Anu says that live comedy is her passion and her challenge: "I love crafting my material and seeing how far I can push it. It gives me freedom - I can experiment and improvise with my delivery. The Edinburgh Fringe was an amazing opportunity to connect with audiences from different backgrounds and cultures. I was pleasantly surprised that both men and women enjoyed different aspects of my show."

Anu Vaidyanathan is not your typical stand-up comic. She used to be an engineer and an international triathlete before becoming a mom, a comic, and a filmmaker. Anu Vaidyanathan brings a unique perspective and a sharp wit to her shows, drawing from her experiences as a comedian, filmmaker, and sometimes engineer who loves endurance sports, including parenting.
