Positive energy is expected to be present in a peaceful and joyful environment. Negative Energy is thought to be present in environments where people experience fear and depression.

Home is where the energy is. Going by the latest trends, that could well be the new catch line.  Elevating or resetting the energy at home has taken on a whole new dimension with people hiring house-energy practitioners, who are developing modern twists on old spiritual practices and healing arts to pump in all the positive energy.

While some people prefer to have their home’s energy recharged on an annual basis, others use herb burning, light visualisations, and sound healing to bring in all the wonderful energies.

SPIRITUAL ENERGY

“The energy we’re discussing here is not any of the ‘energies’ that physicists and engineers discuss, such as electrical energy, nuclear energy, kinetic energy, potential energy, and so on. Dr. Jamshed A. Modi, reiki practitioner and Life-Coach says, “what we are talking about is the energy behind all the energies of physicists and engineers, which is frequently referred to as ‘spiritual or divine energy’.”

Energy — with a capital E

Saints and intellectuals from all countries and cultures have accepted the existence of this Energy. “It pervades our entire universe, including ourselves. ‘Our own Energy’,” explains Dr. Jamshed, a member of the International Association Of Professional Life-Coaches, US.

Positive & Negative Energy

Positive energy is expected to be present in a peaceful and joyful environment. Negative Energy is thought to be present in environments where people experience fear and depression.

“However, it is critical to understand that Energy is, by definition, positive, always positive, and never negative. There is nothing negative about the Energy that created and sustains our beautiful earth, the sun, and the stars, the Energy that created and sustains the myriad forms of life on Earth,” adds Dr Jamshed.

“Negativity,” he adds, “arises in our ideas, perceptions, and actions. We can use our Energy in negative (harmful, unhappy) ways; but the Energy itself is never negative, always positive.” Adopting this viewpoint, he claims, it makes no sense to refer to a location, an office, or a home as having negative Energy. “If we have experienced any form of unpleasantness in a place, it is not the place that needs cleaning of negative Energy; it is our personal Energy that needs cleaning,” adds Dr Jamshed.

Borrowed aure

“Our house carries our imprints, and non-living things borrow the aura of living things that reside or use them, so cleansing and resetting the house or personal spaces is something we all need to do on a regular basis,” believes Sharmilee, the Founder-Director & Pranic Healer at Atmantan Wellness Centre. “It can be accomplished simply by cleansing it with salt water and lighting pure lavender or sandalwood oils, which can free the spaces of prior energies or negative elements. Also regarding Vaastu, there is truth in the science and one must see how far they want to go with it such that it facilitates their living, rather than takes over their life,” adds Sharmilee.  Finally, she says that cleansing and resetting can be accomplished deliberately in the area by practicing meditation and Pranayama. “It is a form of wilfully choosing to break off with the past and choosing to look forward optimistically.”

Inside and out

The dynamics are interconnected. “The energy that we carry within us affects our surroundings and environment, particularly our home because we spend so much time there, and vice versa,” psychic healer and author Tamanna C. says. Any emotional or mental stress impacts our space and obstructs the flow of positivity. “There are different methods for clearing energy space.”

For example, she suggests playing chant music, mopping with salt water, burning incense sticks and candles, smudging with sage, adding fresh flowers, leaving the windows open and allowing sunlight to flow in. All of these are simple cures, but if the energy in the house becomes dense and heavy, Tamanna suggests hiring a professional space healer to come in and cleanse the room.

According to Spiritual Life Coach Priya Kaul, house energy cleaning is necessary for a variety of reasons.

Remove Stagnant Energy: Negative energy in a home can originate from a multitude of sources, including conflict, stress, past negative occurrences, and even the physical surroundings. When negative energy builds, it can cause discomfort, fear, anxiety, or despair, as well as have an impact on the health and well-being of those who live there.

Promote Well-Being: Cleansing the energy in your home can aid in the restoration and enhancement of positive energy flow, which can contribute to increased mood, mental clarity, relaxation, and general emotional well-being.

Improve balance: Just as physical clutter can cause disorder, stagnant energy can disrupt a home’s balance. Healing practices such as smudging, sound healing, and Reiki seek to restore balance and harmony in the environment. Better relationships, communication, and a general sense of tranquilly can result from increased energetic balance.

Increase Sleep and Vitality: Sleeping in a location with sluggish or negative energy can impair sleep quality and leave you feeling exhausted and fatigued. Cleaning procedures can aid in the creation of a more peaceful and energetically friendly atmosphere, supporting restful sleep and increasing energy.

Help with Healing and Recovery: It can be very effective for people recuperating from illness or going through emotional difficulty. It can help to eliminate lingering negative energy that may obstruct healing or lead to mental suffering.

Personal Rituals and Intentions: Many people enjoy carrying out their particular rituals or objectives at home. Energy cleaning can be utilised to start again, clear a space, and reaffirm these behaviours or goals, making them more successful and impactful.

Radiate Positive Vibes: Infuse your environment with healing energy that will radiate positive vibes all year. It’s easy to roll your eyes at the unsightly stacks in your closet or time to get rid of anything that is pulling you down, both physically and mentally.

Bring in natural light: Light can help to balance the energy in your home. Consider transparent drapes to let in natural light while diminishing its intensity. Candles and dimmable chandeliers contribute to the tranquil environment.

In conclusion, healing professionals emphasise that purifying the energy in your home can make you feel safer and better prepared to face day-to-day issues.

Remember, each energy healer or practitioner may have their own unique approach. It's essential to find someone whose techniques and philosophies resonate with you. Trust your intuition and choose a practitioner with whom you feel comfortable working,” says Priya Kaul.

1. Space Clearing: It is a technique for removing sluggish or negative energy from a space. You can try the following approaches:

Smudging involves burning plants such as sage or palo santo and using the smoke to purify the energy. Walk around the house, taking note of corners, doorways, and windows.

Sound Cleansing: Create sound vibrations with bells, chimes, or singing bowls to assist clear the energy. Walk around your house, concentrating on regions that seem genetically heavy.

Salt Cleansing: To absorb negative energy, place bowls of sea salt or Himalayan salt in corners of rooms. Replace the salt on a regular basis.

2. Crystals have unique energetic capabilities that can assist in balancing and cleansing the energy of your home. You can:

Place crystals strategically throughout your home. Clear quartz, amethyst, and black tourmaline are popular cleansing and protection stones.

Make crystal grids with specific objectives, such as promoting optimism or fostering unity. Investigate crystal combinations and layouts to support the energy you seek.

3. Feng Shui: It is an ancient Chinese discipline that balances the movement of energy inside a room. Consider the following fundamental principles:

Get rid of clutter: Getting rid of clutter allows energy to flow freely. Organise and declutter your space.

Balance elements: To achieve balance, use earth, fire, water, metal, and wood. Use colours, textures, and shapes that are linked with each element.

Improve certain areas: Based on the Bagua map and your aspirations, apply Feng Shui principles to different sections of your home. Enhance the career area, for example, with symbols of aspiration or knowledge.
