Odisha’s Fate Will Change After June 4, Says Prime Minister Modi
‘I sacrificed my personal relations with Naveen to save Odisha,’ PM Modi
Bhubaneswar: As Odisha gears up to go to the last phase of the 2024 general elections on June 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday once again asserted that the fate of the state will change after the results are out on June 4.
June 4, as the PM has earlier said, is the “expiry date” of the 24-year-old Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government led by chief minister Naveen Patnaik.
In an exclusive interview to ANI, the PM also revealed the reason behind risking the ‘bonhomie’ with Odisha CM and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik.
On his terms with CM Naveen Patnaik, PM Modi said, "In a democracy we have good terms with all leaders of political parties… we do not have enmity with anyone. Now, the question was whether I should maintain my relations or worry about the fate of Odisha. Hence, I chose to devote myself to the bright future of Odisha even if have to sacrifice my relations for that; I will do it and after the elections, I will convince everyone that I have no enmity with anyone."
PM Modi reiterated that the fate of Odisha is about to change, the government is changing.
Earlier in his previous public meetings in Odisha, Modi had also attacked the ruling BJD for its 25 years of “misgovernance,” “nepotism” “loot of mineral resources” and “land grabbing.”
“I have said that the expiry date of the current Odisha government is June 4 and on June 10, the BJP CM will take oath in Odisha,” said PM Modi.
According to PM Modi, there has been no progress in Odisha for the last 25 years and the biggest concern is that there is a group that has taken over the entire system of Odisha; it seems that the entire system has been held hostage. If Odisha comes out of the bondage, the state will flourish, he told ANI.
“It is a question of Odisha's Asmita. Odisha has abundance of natural resources; it is sad to see poor people in such a prosperous state. Odisha is among the prosperous states of India. It has so much natural wealth and Odisha is also among the states of poor people of India, so the government is responsible for this; and the people of Odisha should get their rights and its pride,” PM Modi added.
