Ugadi Celebrated in TS, AP With Fervour
Hyderabad: Ugadi was celebrated in a grand manner across the two Telugu states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, with people visiting temples for divine blessings in the New Year.
Predictions from Panchangam, an astrological almanac, were read in temples, and some offices. Traditional dishes ‘Pachadi’, ‘Panakam’ and ‘Polelu’ were prepared and distributed amongst friends and families.
People also celebrated Gudi Padwa, Chaitra Sukladi, Cheti Chand and Sajibu Cheiraoba and Kannadigas also celebrated Ugadi.
Acharya Sagi Kamalakara Sharma, head of Telugu department at Osmania University, read out Panchangam at Shilparamam Ugadi Festival celebrations, followed by a Kuchipudi dance performance. People attending the event were served with traditional dishes like Bhobhatlu Poornalu, Pulihora and many more millet snacks.
Special Sridevi Bhudevi Sametha Narasimha Swamy Kalyanostavam was performed at Hare Krishna Golden Temple at Banjara Hills. Ganapath Sachitananda Swami Ashramam at Dindigal also organised the Ugadi celebrations, which was attended by thousands of devotees.
Because of the election code of conduct, several government programmes related to Ugadi were suspended this year.
