The zero-plastic wedding of your dreams!

Anuja seems to have thought of everything. Perhaps it’s because, in all these years, she’s constantly worked to prove naysayers wrong.

“The inspiration behind the idea of creating a plastic-free venue came out of the lack of availability of such options in and around Bengaluru. Weddings add a lot to the wastage generated in the city and this we feel is a way to create awareness and promote plastic-free weddings,” begins 27-year-old Anujna Ravikumar, who started out as a solo-preneur without a plan B.

While you’ve just been mulling over the feasibility of an eco-friendly wedding, Anujna Ravikumar in namma ooru has already etched out a plan for a plastic-free wedding venue! We talk to the entrepreneur with a vision…

While she founded an event management company back in 2015, it wasn’t until this year that she decided to conjure up plastic-free Indian weddings with an innovative spin. “We have consciously taken an eco-friendly approach in our operation because we believe in preserving and protecting our environment and we have pledged to reduce waste and limit plastic in all our events. And, it’s a lot easier than you think it is.”

While she’s now equipped with a proactive team which works with an all-hands-on-deck approach, Anujna’s venture was born owing to her love for guilt-free celebrations. “This began as a hobby for me —  organising children’s birthday parties in my locality, which slowly evolved into a wedding planning company, as people started approaching me to take on bigger events like weddings.” And then came the idea of her zero-plastic venture.

Anuja seems to have thought of everything. Perhaps it’s because, in all these years, she’s constantly worked to prove naysayers wrong. “As a woman entrepreneur, what drives me is the biased doubt that society has regarding the survival and success of women in the industry. As a woman, I urge all women entrepreneurs to come together to shatter this set ceiling,” she avers.

Driven by emotions and pride in her work, Anujna likes to curate with her heart. “As a wedding planner, what inspires me is the emotional and heartfelt feedback we receive after each of our weddings. We are grateful to be able to be a part of something as monumental as their wedding in our client’s life.”
