Sewage water enters KBR Park from Filmnagar
The park's outer area is dedicated to walkers, who cover their noses because of the foul smell
HYDERABAD: A water body inside Kasu Brahmananda Reddy Park is getting polluted by sewage water that is entering the premises from Filmnagar side, making it a septic tank.
Deccan Chronicle visited the place after a whistleblower tagged this newspaper’s Twitter handle a photograph that showed the flow of sewage into the park, which enjoys a national status. The authorities are tight-lipped, though.
The park’s outer area is dedicated to walkers, who cover their noses because of the foul smell. Inside the park, birds and animals can be seen drinking the contaminated water.
This correspondent lodged a complaint with the HMWS&SB after attempts to meet the officer concerned, Sham Kumar, went in vain.
Meena Ravindran, the environmentalist, said, “There are hardly any natural water bodies left in the city. The authorities should not be lenient. They should resolve the issue on a war footing.”
