A cosplayer, larper, gamer and all-round geekette from the UK, Tabitha Lyons will be coming to Bengaluru for Comic-Con 2017. Tabitha will appear as Wonder Woman and Superwoman on the two days of the event which begins tomorrow. She speaks to us about her journey as a cosplayer and gives us her insights about this year’s Comic-Con.

Tabitha is not new to the whole dressing up scene, as she was only eight years old when she got into a hobby called LARP (Live Action Role Play), where people basically run around a field hitting each other with rubber swords. She discovered the world of cosplay after browsing the internet, she says. Though the big break only came a few years later when she did her rogue cosplay.

She discovered the world of cosplay through browsing the internet she says. Though, the big break only came a few years later when she did her Rogue cosplay. “I had this idea to make a real-life sized sentinel head that I carried over my head! It was bigger than me! The images went viral with a lot of thanks to a Facebook page called Cosplay in America”, she adds.

But, this journey wasn’t easy for the young cosplay artist as she had to face immense internet bullying. Tabitha says, “The bigger I was becoming on the internet the more trolls I would counter, I’d spent nights crying over comments wanting to give up cosplay. But, now I just don’t even go down that rabbit hole. I just cosplay for myself. Cosplay is about having fun in costumes that’s what I believe.”

Her first time in India and she is absolutely excited to try all kinds of food and experience the comic con culture in India. “In my wildest dreams, I would never thought I would be able to travel to India let alone be invited! I can’t wait to see everyone’s costumes!” she says further. She tells us that she can never put a stop to making props with her father and says that, “We are already making props for some of the biggest gaming companies in the world let alone for TV, theatre, and movies. I’m excited to see what other projects we will get to work on!”

Some of Tabitha’s favourite cosplay is always the one on which she is working on or the costumes she has just made. She tells us, “I’m completely in love with My wonder woman costume currently. I can’t believe Warner Brothers Sponsored us to make it! I can’t wait to bring into India!”
