Mumbai: Versatile as an actor, her poise and calm demeanour cannot be overlooked. Her underlying dedication for acting and her beauty captured the imagination of the audiences. She is Isha Koppikar.

The One Night @ Call Centre actor shares exclusively with Deccan Chronicle what according to her true beauty is all about, the secret behind her gorgeous skin and how focusing on inner beauty can manifest externally as well.

Beauty

It is the innocence and the purity of the soul that defines true beauty. Beauty is all about embracing yourself the way you are. You don’t need others to validate your beauty to feel confident. It is all about accepting yourself first. Beauty is not in the clothes you wear, not in the figure, beauty is in the eyes. It serves as the doorway to your heart.

Skin care

Skin care is largely genetics. Beauty is what you are within that reflects on the outside. You are what you eat. The skin is the mirror and reflects your lifestyle. So it is imperative that we maintain a healthy and a disciplined lifestyle.

Since childhood days, I have been really disciplined and follow that routine till date. I go to sleep at 9.30 and get up around 6.30am in the morning. Additionally, I focus on workout and less of drinking and no smoking.

Skin care regime

For me good 8 hours of sleep works does the magic. On stressful days when I am busy at work, eight hours of sleep is a must do for me. I prefer power naps at lunch break, it rejuvenates me.

However, it depends totally on how hectic or stressful the day is; on hectic days I prefer to sleep more to look fresh and on lazy days less than eight hours of sleep can suffice.

Cleansing, toning and moisturising

For me skincare is all about internal cleansing, toning and moisturising. I eat lots of fruits, vegetables and lots of water.

I would also mention here that people have overdone the water bit. Drink water when you are thirsty. Different people have different physiology; therefore the standard myth associated with the intake of 4-5 litres of water for a healthy and glowing skin is not applicable.

Home care remedies

I don’t get hassled when I get acne or a dark spot. I believe in staying natural as much as possible. I also think that shortcuts are the ones that actually cause problems. So I give time to any skin concerns to fade out naturally.

Vanity essentials

Sun block, lip gloss, studio fix and a facial mist with a good ph balance. A good facial mist helps in keeping the skin hydrated.

Quick fix hair do

A pony tail or maybe an out of the bed messy bun

One thing every woman should try once in their lifetime

Motherhood

Message to other women

First and foremost, we need to give a pat on our shoulder, not just on International Women’s Day but every day. We are God’s chosen ones, the procreators, the birth givers and that is what makes very woman special. We should not limit our beauty just to external appearance because I believe beauty lies within, in the innocence and purity of the soul. We should think less about people who don’t care about us.

Having said that, let’s also strive to be unconditional, which is difficult and comes with practice. Being unconditional truly brings out the beauty from within. It is the only way we can stay confident and happy, because what we are inside reflects outside.
