No matter what your personal style is, it’s always a great idea to give your sartorial taste a revamp. And this time around, it’s perhaps time to give those delicate dreamy fabrics a chance – Yes, we’re talking about Boudoir-inspired clothing (that everyone from Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner to Cate Blanchett are gushing over this season), and everything you’ll need to know to carry off these effeminate, ladylike silhouettes  with élan!

Opining how swapping your cardigans for satin robes is the way to kick start the trend,  Farah Magi, a fashion blogger, says, “A silk slip or midi dress worn over a white button down shirt is a great option to exude a carefree yet edgy appeal. It’s also a great idea to slip on a satin robe for the right streak of effeminate elegance!”

While the inner wear on the outerwear trend offers myriad styling options, one must pay equal importance to the fabrics, suggests Jaitra Raju, a fashion curator. “Since there are no rules in the book to staunchly abide by, taking a few parameters into consideration will rule out the chances of creating a fashion faux pas. In this case, in case you want to try this trend for work, just slip on a lightweight silk trench over the dress and pair it with some chic pumps. Women on the heavier side must avoid satin, and should probably choose lacy alternatives instead,” she adds.

Accoutrements to try: “Going by how no outfit is complete without the perfect footwear, I believe the look is best suited with knee-high and ankle length boots. Even strappy block heels, lace-up flats and neutral-hued pumps are some of the snazzy options to consider,” says Priyanka Harry, a designer.

Also stressing on how to spruce things up, Farah signs off by saying, “Play it up by breaking down the sensuality of the look with tough androgynous elements – accessories like sturdy belts, jackets with structured shoulders, leather back packs, and ripped boyfriend jeans fit the bill.”
