Hairstyles to tame your mane this monsoon
Easy hair do’s that will help you stand out this season.
Most of us dread the monsoons due to the mounting humidity in the air, causing absolute hair havoc! A quick and convenient solution to overcome any hair problems and maintain your hair well is to include the right hair care and styling products in your hair arsenal. It helps to ensure that they are developed to cater especially to your hair type as well as combat the weather. Here are a list of tips and tricks by Mumbai based hairstylist, Adhuna Bhabani, for you to be monsoon ready:
The perfect solution is to arm yourself with a good anti-frizz leave-in-cream to combat frizz as well as nourish, smoothen and protect your hair, leaving it soft and manageable. Use products which do not weigh your hair down but enhances its natural texture.
Embrace the natural texture of your hair, don’t fight it. Use a leave-in conditioner on slightly damp hair and let your hair dry naturally. Limit the use of heated tools but should you have to succumb to some serious styling, prep your hair with products with SPF and heat-protecting properties to shield for any possible heat damage.
Monsoon also calls for some kind of experimentation. You can now play with your hair colour with colours such as chocolate dark brown, wine, deep burgundy and also lends shine to your locks which is sure to catch everyone’s eye.
Quick tip
Don’t forget to opt for deep conditioning treatments to ensure that the monsoons don’t leave your hair dry and frizzy. Good relaxing head massages at regular intervals to stimulate the scalp and promote blood flow which feeds the root of the hair. It is the circular motion of a massage that works for hair growth; this can be done with or without the use of any product.
If you haven’t gone short yet, now’s the time! You can opt for a deconstructed pixie, a messy or graduated bob or even a lob - all low maintenance cuts.
Trim your hair regularly, every 6-8 weeks to rid split ends as well as maintain the shape of your haircut. The best accessory you can gift yourself is a chic monsoon-friendly haircut.
You can also try simple but stylish hairstyles such as the Top Knot or the B-witched ponytail. This half top knot is another sassy, cool option to combat humidity causing frizz whilst staying on top of your trend game. It's easy to style and can be done with just about any length of hair.
Top Knot
Step 1
Use your fingers to direct all of the hair to the crown of the head. Secure with a bungee.
Step 2
Using a teaser brush, loosely backcomb the length of the ponytail from root to tip, to create volume and texture.
Step 3
Take the entire ponytail and literally tie it into a knot. Secure the hair with U-pins but maintain the messy mood of this look.
Flirty Bob
Step 1
Spray a fine mist of blown away volumising leave-in spray close to the roots.
Step 2
Take a small amount of climate control anti-frizz leave-in cream into the palm of your hand and apply evenly throughout the middle lengths and ends of the hair.
Step 3
Determine your parting and comb the hair into place.
Step 4
Attach your diffuser to your hairdryer; keep the setting to slow speed and medium heat. Gather the lengths of your hair into the diffuser and dry the hair section by section, encouraging your natural waves to form.
