Fierce and Fabulous
From bold cut outs to plunging necklines and thigh-high slits, this trend is grabbing eyeballs.
Fierce fashion is ruling the runways and red carpets like never before. If you’re the kind of girl who loves to stand out and create a bold fashion statement, then this is for you! Girls who like to be in charge and demand the desired attention when they enter a room.
It could be anything about baring your cleavage completely, well almost, or baring your back, or slits that go even above your thighs. How much OTT (over the top) can you get without looking like you’re screaming for attention? We find out.
Now we know that Paris Hilton’s not winning any Grammys anytime soon, but she likes to hog some limelight everytime. Her dress this time was complete with an oblong cutout on the bodice.
Designer Susan Fernandes shares, “I don’t think you need to show any skin to look absolutely sexy and make heads turn. You do need a stunning figure though and the ease and confidence that comes with loving your body. I also hate huge big implanted breasts hanging out of low cut dresses for big public events save those for adult magazines. What you really need is a well worked out body, fabulous skin, a strong mind and attitude and you do not need to use your body to get you noticed.”
At the recent Grammy’s Taylor Swift went with the Grecian Goddess look in a black Kaufman Franco number with a plunging neckline. Tiger Shroff’s beau Disha Patani was slut shamed for wearing a cleavage-flaunting gown. Fashionistas ridiculed her but the girl took it in her stride.
Chrissy Teigen broke the world record for highest slit ever. Gigi and her sister Bella Hadid’s crazy Cannes wardrobe almost revealed her crotch in a high slit red gown and at another event she wore a black gown by Alexandre Vauthier Couture that showed off her toned physique to full effect thanks to her plunging neckline, thigh-high slits and waist cut-outs.
City-based designer Vidhya Arvind says, “Fierce fashion is for those who steer fashion by its horns and have fun while making a bold statement. The idea of fierce fashion is to convey you do not conform and that you are bold enough to stand out, call the shots and create your individual identity. The key to ensuring you pull off fierce fashion with aplomb, yet, not be seen as risque, is to understand the balance of proportions. If you are wearing an ensemble with one fierce element that stands out, make it the sole point of communication. Don’t overdo or crowd the outfit that will seem like you’re trying too hard. Focus on either a plunging neckline, bare back that runs all the way till the waist, thigh high slit ala Angelina Jolie, strategically placed cut outs or the more recently trending sheer outfits that show off the best parts of your well toned physique. Yes, adopting fierce fashion is a mindset that can be easily flaunted by the hour glass body types. But if one applies the right balance of skin show, cover up and the right attitude and confidence, then they can slay this look with ease.”
