Bollywood divas like Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor have been spotted with this lovely pose.

Out went the duck face and in came the fish gape. The fish gape makes a stunning comeback this year, what with all our beauties posing for shutterbugs sporting it. Bollywood divas like Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor have been spotted with this lovely pose.  The likes of this trend has also been seen on international superstars, like J Lo, Nicki Minaj, Keira Knightley and Gigi Hadid.

The fish gape definitely sounds stranger than the duck face. It lies somewhere between a pursing of the lips and a smile. It is as simple as parting your mouth just so slightly, that a bit of the teeth flash. It is cool and flattering on absolutely anybody. The ‘fish gape’ is a bizarre yet impressive take on naming the trend, as the person’s mouth will surprisingly remind you of a little fish. It strikes for a sensual, yet classy and subtle look on the face. If it weren’t for the ridiculous take on its naming, we probably would have surpassed the whole concept.  The fish gape pose has a slimming effect on the face as it brings the chin down a little, and pulls the cheeks in.

Ida Yoana, a model and actress says, “I think the ‘gape’ as we call it, looks really cool. The best part is that it looks so unintentional. From a modelling perspective, I think it suits long oval faces more but it will still seem really nice on most people. It’s not too obvious and in your face like the duck face or pout.”

In spite of the strange and silly names, these poses are a blessing in disguise, as it exudes an informal but remarkable sense of style. It looks like the ‘fish gape’ will be a timeless one.
