A unique design experiment could well become a trend in the modern fashion world. Fendi and Versace came together in path-breaking move which ended in showcasing the results of the collaboration on the ramp at ‘Fendace’.
According to news release, the pre-spring 2022 pop-up collections created by Kim Jones, Fendi’s women’s wear artistic director, Silvia Venturini Fendi, Fendi’s men’s wear designer, and Donatella Versace of Versace, were modelled at ‘Fendace’. “It’s a first in the history of fashion,” Versace, said in a news release. The designers worked at each other’s houses. It was “us swapping roles,” according to Versace.
Gucci and Jean Paul Gaultier had tried something similar earlier, but they were more focussed on brands from different fashion areas. In Fendace, the two entities aimed to explore each other’s heritage and signatures, and give new shape to them. However, the Versace influence tended to dominate in both the Versace by Fendi and the Fendi by Versace.
Shalom Harlow, Amber Valletta, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Kristen McMenamy and Karen Elson were among the models on the runway.
