While you sip on a glass of wine and nibble on some cheese and bread, you can also get a quick foot massage and listen to live music by two bands on both the days, with a closing act by the popular Soundarya.

If a tough work week rankles you and you’re looking for some joie de vivre on the weekend, then the Fete du Vin might be just the place you can head to. It’s one place where you want to be to get your share of wine, insightful workshops, wine tasting, grape stomping and exciting games.

Promising to be a haven for wine lovers, Girish Khare, founder BrainstrustDF, who has conceptualised and organised Fete du Vin on the weekend of July 9 and 10, says, “This wine and cheese festival will bring together all things fine under one roof; such as Four Seasons, Grover Zampa, Sula Wines, Moet Hennessey, Kerry Gold, Bread Works, Fratteli Wines, Enoteca, O2, Karen Anand, Prestige Cellar, Himalayan Cheese, etc. There will be breakout sessions four times on both days, where sommeliers will explain about the finer nuances of wines, pairings with cheese and food. You can not only sample wines, but also cheese manufacturers will put up a display for sampling. Besides, there are also a large variety of breads that you can taste by Breadworks from Bengaluru.”

He adds, “While you sip on a glass of wine and nibble on some cheese and bread, you can also get a quick foot massage and listen to live music by two bands on both the days, with a closing act by the popular Soundarya.”

What’s more, Megha Shankar of the Nathaniel Music School will also croon popular numbers, indeed. The piazza at UB City will come alive with a wine-infused frolic. Chef Goutham Balasubramanian of Toscano will conduct a cookery demo on cooking with wine.

“We are going to showcase a dish of mixed mushrooms, Chianti and mascarpone risotto and Sauternes crème brûlée. It’s going to be a heady combination of wine-based food dishes.”

Also watch out for a class on wine and cheese – Eternal Friends on how best to pair wines and cheese. The Art of Tasting Wine will demystify wine vocabulary and explain how to taste and smell a glass of wine. WSET certified wine trainer from Enoteca by Madhuloka, Gaurav Thapar, who has studied the art in New Zealand and London, will guide people on appreciating the nuances of wine-tasting.

“We are doing three workshops each day, on art of tasting and two on wine and cheese pairing. There will be a quiz session as well at the end of each workshop. Grape stomping will take place on both the days. It’s sure to bring out the child in everybody!”
