Winter warmers: Heartwarming cocktails
As we set into the year-end festive mood, it's time to get your spirits high with these heartwarming cocktails.
Good music, dim lights, a good drink in hand and lively company are just the things you need to set the mood for a rocking party to wind down the year. Doesn’t matter if you are stressed out or just want to relax with a cool, tall beverage, these drinks will supplement your energy quotient by providing the sugars needed and of course, lift your spirits too.
The spicy Indian mojito
Ingredients:
45 ml dark rum
1 lemon
5-6 mint
2 tsp sugar
¼ cup orange juice
¼ cup soda
1 cup ice
Method:
Cut the lemon into wedges and muddle with the sugar and mint leaves. Put in the ice. Add the rum and orange juices. Top with soda and serve.
Apple pie
Ingredients:
1 cup apple juice
½ cup apple fizz
1 scoop vanilla ice cream
½ tsp spice powder
1 cup ice
½ cup whipped cream
Green apple slices to garnish
Method:
Take a glass and put in the ice. Mix the apple juice with the spice powder and the ice cream. Pour on top of the ice. Top with the apple fizz. Put the cream on top and garnish with the green apple slices. Enjoy!!
Virgin sangria
Ingredient:
4 cups of grape juice
1 cup orange juice
1 cup of pineapple juice
4 cups of ice
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 cup chopped fruits (mix of apple, grapes, pineapple etc)
2 - 3 tbsp sugar syrup infused with cinnamon
Method:
In a pitcher put in all the ingredients. Stir and keep refrigerated for at least an hour so that the flavours develop. Serve super chilled.
TIP:
For the infused sugar syrup — boil together 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water with a good piece of cinnamon till you get a syrup consistency.
Irish caramel Affogato
Ingredients:
30 ml baileys’ Irish caramel
60 ml hot espresso shot
1 scoop vanilla ice cream
1 biscotti, small
Method:
Take a glass cup and put in a scoop of ice cream. Top with the hot espresso. Crush the biscotti and sprinkle on top. Pour on the Irish caramel and serve.
