Recent years have seen doctors and scientists alike harping on the fact that too much of sugar is bad for the body. Sugar, suddenly has become one of the biggest enemy of humanity. And while we all have that secret craving for something sweet, most of us have managed to cut down on those sweet goodies. Studies further show that sugar is liked to obesity, diabetes and abnormal brain functions. It ages us and is totally addictive.
Needless to say, staying away from sugar is advisable. But what to do when you get those glucose laden cravings?
According to an Australian company that promotes healthy eating and living habits, the following are natural alternatives to sugar that one can have.
The five things that may help you while you slowly easy your tormented soul from sugar are:
1.Coconut oil: Despite the fact that is is high in saturated fat, it can actually curb sugar cravings. Experts say that two spoons of coconut oil a day can keep those sugar cravings away!
2. Licorice tea: Should not be that hard to find with supermarts storing everything nowadays, but licorice tea, or any naturally sweet tea gives the body the taste of sweets without actually having any.
3. Sweet. Potato: They are tasty and a healthier alternative. Try cutting them into wedges, baking them and sprinkling some cinnamon on them before having.
4. Carrot sticks: Carrots are naturally sweet, and while they are not exactly pastry material, they can be a good treat if you are having sweet cravings and want to stay away from sugar.
5. 85 per cent dark chocolate: Dark chocolate has been found to have a number of health benefits. There is justa twaspoon of sugar in 100gm of 85 per cent dark chocolate and it is so rich that you will just want to have a nibble. But it takes care of those cravings!
