Whiskey for beer lovers in the works
The brand claims to have not tampered with the potency of the drink while introducing the flavour.
If you’re a beer drinker averse to the intense flavour of whiskey, a team of alcohol experts is brewing a potion specifically to lure you. United Spirits is launching a homegrown honey flavoured whiskey called Silk which is targeted at beer loyalists who may find the taste of whiskey overwhelming. It is the first product launch after Diegeo acquired USL about four years ago.
The brand claims to have not tampered with the potency of the drink while introducing the flavour. Since whiskey is known for its strong flavour, sweetening it may lead to an overhaul in its character, which the industry experts believe will be an interesting change to see. The brand is aware that the biggest challenge here is to change the perception of the people with regard to the character of whiskey.
Having said that, flavoured whisky has been met with moderate success elsewhere in the world. How it fares in India is yet to be seen. It has already been tested in a few states, and if all goes as planned, Silk will be ready for a launch some time early next year.
