London: Wine lovers, science has got your back! A new study shows sipping a glass of your favourite tipple with dinner per day is actually good for you.

Researchers from the universities of Helsinki and Tampere studied the drinking habits of almost 2,600 people between 18 and 69.

They found that 12 percent of people, who had a glass of wine or two with dinner, were the most likely to have good physical and mental health and rate their self-esteem as 'high.'

The research suggested those who dined with wine every night were less likely to binge drink and "should not be considered at risk" of doing so, the Daily Mail reported.

The study is published in the Alcohol and Alcoholism journal.
