Mother breaks down after finding out about son's 'hidden vagina'
At birth it was found that Harry had no anus, no urethra hole in his penis and had three holes in his heart.
Medical problems in children can be agonising for them but they can be equally stressful for parents who would go to any length for the well being and happiness of their child.
Such is the case of Leanne Owen from Blackpool, who has been standing with her son Harry Blunden for eight painful years since his birth, as he has been treated with a number of defects he was born with.
At birth it was found that Harry had no anus, no urethra hole in his penis and had three holes in his heart, but after years of looking for a way to cure the agonising condition of her son, Leanne was shattered when she found out that he had a hidden vagina.
It was found that Harry, who has severe dyspraxia and has undergone 12 operations, also has VACTERL association, an acronym used to describe a deep midling cleft in his scrotum, which causes two labia folds or a 'hidden vagina'.
The news was heartbreaking since Leanne found out about it at the same time when she discovered that she had lost a child. She told Mirror, "I knew there was something internally that was wrong with Harry as well as the other defects that were picked when he was born.”
She broke down when she got to know about Harry’s condition since that was a breakthrough which would finally lead to the treatment of an ailment which has been causing pain for her child.
Leanne also said that a lot of defects Harry was born with, weren’t picked up in the ultrasound, and added that she feels “frustrated because if this had been picked up when Harry was a baby, he wouldn't have to be in the pain that he is now.”
