Chiranjeevi says early detection can treat cancer
HYDERABAD: Tollywood senior actor Chiranjeevi stressed that early detection could help in the treatment of cancer. He said that he was able to get a non-cancerous growth treated as he gets a health check-up done regularly.
Speaking during the inauguration of Star Cancer Centre at Financial District, Chiranjeevi emphasised the need to conduct regular screening camps to ensure timely diagnosis of cancer and arresting the spread of the disease in the early stages.
However, this led to confusion that he had been detected with colon cancer and that he was a cancer survivor.
As anxiety spread, Chiranjeevi went on Twitter to issue a clarification. “A while ago I spoke about the need to raise awareness about cancer while inaugurating a cancer centre. I told you that cancer can be prevented if you undergo regular medical tests,” he said.
“I was alert and took a colonoscopy test. I said that non-cancerous polyps were detected and removed. I only said, 'If I hadn't done the test first, it would have turned out to be cancer'. That's why everyone should take precautions and undergo medical tests/screening,” he said.
Fans responded on Twitter by wishing him a long life and good health.
