50 per cent more takers for homeopathy
Dr Ramya said that the drawback that homeopathy faces is the pragmatic approach to applied research which is now being done by CCRH.
Bengaluru: The number of patients seeking homeopathic treatment has gone up by 50% in the last five years, claims the Central Council for Research in Homeopathy (CCRH).
“Many recent studies show that almost 60% of the population is seeking homeopathic treatment and finding a cure to chronic/incurable diseases as well as acute diseases holistically, because of its high level of cure rate without any harmful effects,” said Dr Ramya Prakash, a homeopathic doctor. In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik had said, “Homeopathy is not a pseudoscience. The most comprehensive systematic reviews of studies based on classical homeopathy have concluded that it has a positive and specific effect.”
Lakshmi, a patient who was suffering from hypothyroidism and PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) said, “I was suffering from these conditions for the last 10 years. After trying various forms of medication, I resorted to homeopathy and my condition improved within a year. I am healthy now and I am off every other medication.”
Dr Ramya said that the drawback that homeopathy faces is the pragmatic approach to applied research which is now being done by CCRH.
“The mainstream medical and scientific community has generally dismissed the findings of nearly 250 years of homeopathy practice. The effectiveness of homeopathic treatment is often considered as 'placebo effect', mostly due to long interactions between the doctor and the patient,” said Dr Usha Manjunath, Director of Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR).
