Kerala: Student gets face back via surgery
Ajay Ghosh suffered injuries on his jaw bone, gum, lips, face and skull.
Kochi: Doctors at Specialist Hospital gave a new lease of life to a degree student by reconstructing his injured face. Ajay Ghosh, son of E. K. Kumaran of Kuthattukulam and a first year degree student of Government College, Kuthattukulam, had suffered severe injuries on his face in a road accident. The surgery, which lasted eight hours, was performed by a medical team comprising Dr. George, Dr. Asha Ciriac and Dr. Gopinath. Ajay Ghosh met with accident while riding as a pillion on the scooter of his friend. He was returning from college when the accident took place near Ramamangalam.
As private buses were striking that day Ajay Ghosh had decided to return home with his friend. The scooter hit an electric post while his friend tried to avoid a pothole. Ajay Ghosh suffered injuries on his jaw bone, gum, lips, face and skull. He was shifted to Specialist Hospital for advanced treatment on August 19. Ajay Gosh’s family consists of his father, a daily wage labourer; mother Ambika, housewife and brother Ananthu, student.
