Get healthy: Be a water' body
Shalini Manglani, a city-based board certified nutrition and wellness consultant shares some fitness tips.
1The secret to maintaining one’s glow is to stay hydrated. Drink as much water as possible in the morning and during an evening out. Don’t skimp on water all through the day.
2 A green juice in the morning is refreshing. Just 100 ml is enough. I make mine with spinach, lime, pepper, mint and any other dark green leafy vegetables in the fridge combined with water. It’s something I never skip. Breakfast sometimes becomes the only meal we eat at home so it’s always clean and healthy. If the food at home is lavish too, do your best to pick and choose and save some favourites to eat later.
3 If you’re eating out at a party or at a buffet, avoid tasting every sweet available. Give yourself a sweet budget for the day and stick with it.
4 A brisk 30-minute walk or your regular exercise routine, be it yoga or weights or cardio should be part of your daily fitness regime. Grabbing a cat-nap right after work keeps me from getting cranky and reaching out for comfort food.
5 Since we have all just binged on festive sweets, we need to now train our minds to gain pleasure from our family and friends and not just from food. We have to be responsible foodies this year.
