Sweating the small stuff could lead to chronic diseases: Study
It's time to let go of the minor upsets.
A new study has found people who get stressed out and agitated quickly have an increased risk of developing chronic diseases, the Daily Mail reported.
Researchers at the University of California conducted the study on 1,000 people investigated what happens when people get worked up about minor issues.
Researchers found those that that sweat the small stuff had heart issues and weaker immune systems 10 years later. They also found people who learned to let things go did not experience drastic health issues.
The study shows how harmful minor upsets can be on our health.
"Our research shows negative emotions that linger after even minor, daily stressors have important implications for our long term physical health," Kate Leger, a graduate teaching assistant at UC Irvine, told Daily Mail.
Adding, "When most people think of the types of stressors that impact health, they think of the big things, major life events that severely impact their lives, such as the death of a loved one or getting divorced."
The study was originally published in the journal Psychological Science.
