Telangana: Vaccination programme from August 17
The vaccine is to protect children from life threatening diseases like pneumonia, diarrhoea and brain fever.
Hyderabad: The government will administer measles and rubella vaccine to children in the age group of nine months to 15 years on August 17.
The government on Thursday called the heads of religious institutions to brief them about the importance of the vaccination programme so that they can spread the message in the community.
Ms Vijaya Kumari, who is co-ordinating with various agencies and the government, said, “Even if the child has taken MMR earlier, they are being asked to take it during the mass immunisation programme. The vaccine is to protect children from life threatening diseases like pneumonia, diarrhoea and brain fever.” The vaccination will be held in six districts Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar, Khammam and Adilabad.
