Tumour mistaken for sinusitis ravages elderly woman's face
The 71-year-old experienced pain four years back and received medication for sinusitis as the growth shattered her skull.
Tumours can be life threatening for several people affected by them if left untreated and sometimes this happens when they are mistaken for minor conditions. In many cases lack of awareness and required diagnosis can leave people with heartbreaking consequences.
71-year-old Editha Dadores from Philippines is devastated after a tumour mistaken for sinusitis ravaged her face. She experienced pain in her nostrils four years back and doctors gave her medication for the common condition.
She had a surgery in 2015 but even that didn’t help as the growth continued causing the front part of the skull to shatter. The woman’s face has been consumed by the tumour and she has now been diagnosed with inverted papilloma commonly known as a nasal tumour.
Facial reconstruction has been advised by doctors, but they also warned about risks involved in the procedure.
