Lifting weights could help reduce symptoms of depression significantly
Find out how.
Depression affects millions around the world and treating the mental health condition can be costly.
However, a new study suggests treating the blues in a more affordable way by lifting weights, the Daily Mail reported.
Researchers came to this conclusion after reviewing 33 studies involving 2,000 people.
The team from the University of Limerick in Ireland, found people's depression symptoms drastically reduced with weights.
Most people with depression also suffer a physical or mental issue, according to the report.
"Exercise ramps up the body's production of growth protein which, in combination with the new connections being made in the brain, should help the organ to grow which in turn makes us 'feel' better,” the report stated.
Physical activity also ensures stimulation of better blood flow, overall health and better quality sleep.
