Newborn weighing 6 kg is heaviest baby born in a decade
The infant weighing close to a bowling ball at over 5 kg stunned doctors and midwives.
A baby being born with a healthy weight is a positive sign but sometimes this can be astonishingly high. Several cases of babies putting on too much weight too quickly due to rare disorders have also been reported recently.
Now Brodey Young from England has caught everyone’s attention for being the heaviest baby born in a decade at a hospital. The infant weighing close to a bowling ball at over 5 kg stunned doctors and midwives at the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital.
His mother said that she could feel the difference in pressure when Brodey was coming out and although she knew he would be a big baby, she didn’t know exactly how big. Although he is few days old, Brodey is drinking 70 ml of milk every three to four hours which is much more than the average of 20 to 40 ml for children.
The delivery had to be cesarean since Brodey was four days early but the parents are happy that they could bring him home in time for Christmas.
