Hyderabad: Locals complain of severe skin irritation
The PCB has attributed the frothing to animal waste and sewerage flowing into the lake unabated.
Hyderabad: In Dharaninagar, after Tuesday’s rain, foam had risen out of the lake and onto the nearby road and houses. Pedestrians and motorists had a tough time navigating through it. People who came in contact with the foam later complained of severe skin irritation.
“The foam causes a burning sensation on the skin and also makes us smell foul and unable to carry on with our work,” said Tulsi Ram, a resident of the area. The PCB has attributed the frothing to animal waste and sewerage flowing into the lake unabated. The GHMC had said earlier this month that they would seek ways to divert the sewage elsewhere. “We haven’t been able to divert it yet as the slope is not steep enough to let the sewage flow out, we need some more time do it,” said Kaushik Nainee, assistant engineer with GHMC. For the time being, he added, they would put up a sheet over the foam.
