Certain equipments may seem simple to use at first but handling them without proper care and experience can prove fatal. Several incidents of people injuring themselves with tools used at home have been reported in the past, and they get more shocking every time.

14-year-old Devon White was enjoying a boating trip when things went horribly wrong. The teen just loaded a harpoon when it went off and pierced through his diving mask before getting lodged six inches in his head.

The steel bolt shattered the mask and hit the boy’s eye after which the boat was rushed back to the beach. He underwent a three-hour-long surgery to get the bolt removed and it’s still unclear if he will lose the eye.

The bolt was damaged and didn’t load properly as it went off when the boy stood up. The police chief described the boy’s survival as a miracle.
