Unhealthy lifestyle is giving rise to close to 2,500 cancer cases in the UK per week, the Daily Mail reported.
Researchers say it could be preventable by making a few simple changes in your daily routine.
A healthy diet, more exercise and quitting smoking could help you avoid four in 10 cancers.
Cancer Research UK revealed out of the 360,000 new cases diagnosed in 2015, 135,500 could have been prevented.
Experts reveal a combination of obesity and smoking are giving rise to the disease.
Women are also at higher risk that men because is a big contributing factor of cancers like breast, womb and bowel.
"Obesity is potentially the new smoking," Harpal Kumar, chief executive of Cancer Research UK said. Adding, "We need to turn that tide around and we need to act quickly."
The Daily Mail quoted Rachel Rawson, of Breast Cancer Care: "We cannot turn a blind eye to the evidence that both being overweight and drinking alcohol increase the risk of developing breast cancer.
"And it's within our reach to make simple lifestyle changes – like bumping up exercise and eating a healthy balanced diet."
