Time in Range' a new metric to measure glucose

Berlin: Experts at Advanced Technologies & Treatments for Diabetes 2019 in Berlin have concluded that in addition to 'HbA1c' test, 'time in range' is a new metric for glucose evaluation amid the rise in diabetes and associated complications at epidemic proportions.
'Time in Range' is the percentage of time that glucose levels of individuals are in low, target and high ranges. Suboptimal glucose control- glucose levels above 200 mg/dL and below 60 mg/dL- can lead to highly serious consequences, including in the brain. Maintaining optimal glucose control is recommended and children with type 1 diabetes require much closer attention.
