Hyderabad: For post-graduate students who have to study specialised organs of the body, the virtual system is proving to be a boon as there are pre-designed machine models for them to work.

Dr GN Rao, founder-chair of LV Prasad Eye Hospitals, said, “We are working with the technology department to create mac-hine models whereby the procedures of cataract and other eye-surgeries can be practised virtually by students. Procuring eyes of the dead and then learning from them is difficult. For that reason, these systems are being developed.” Similar systems are also being made for teeth, ears and other organs which are at a nascent stage.

According to the industry, these models require expertise and it has to be according to the real-life situation. Hence, technological collaboration with medical inputs is required to create accurate systems.
